Adding power to truck bed

I want to add a 12v outlet and a 3 prong outlet in the rear of my bed. Ive read amd read and read and I know I can do the 12v easy enough (or just buy the 7 pin to 12v adapter for the trailer plug) but I have no idea on the 3 prong. I know ill need an inverter that is rated for what I want to use off it but the wiring is what im concerned about. This is ultimately what id like it to look like. any input?

It depends on what you want to power...inverters get pretty big, pretty quick the more juice you need. That's going to determine the size of wire, the inverter mounting location, etc. That should be the first step, then figuring out that inverter's specific requirements.

 

Keep in mind that some of them can draw a lot of juice, is the charging system up to the task and can you add a fast idle to maintain it?

I know the 2006 hybrid model came with this exact thing and you had to hit a button in the cab to enable it. Someone from my school had a power outlet just like this in their 99 2500
