Will a cab from a 1500 fit 2500HD

First, awesome site! I am a newbie here.

I was wondering if any one has any info on body swaps. I recently acquired a 2004 Sierra 2500HD single cab longbox. The truck was rolled and the body is toast. The truck ended up on its wheels so when It was given to me I drove it home. It runs and drives perfect nothing bent, everything works. Every body panel is bent and dented.

I would like to fix this truck as it cost me nothing yet. Will a 1500 cab fit? I think it will be cheaper to buy a whole parts truck (eg. a 1500 single cab long box with a 4.8 would be cheaper than 2500HD 4x4).

If every thing bolts up this should be a pretty easy " plug and play" concept. if not should I be looking for same year and cab as the one I have now?

I appreciate any ideas or comments thank you.

pretty sure it would as from what i can tell on the 2500's its usually just the front end, hood, and maybe fenders that are different, and people will swap those onto a 1500 all the time.
