pinion nut rotational torque / preload

Hey guys.

Im starting to rebuild the rear and front diffs in my 08 sierra 1500.

Im looking for the spec on the rotational torque for setting the preload on the rear pinion. Installing new pinion and bearings, gears and eaton trutrac. Ive read to take the spec from the original one before removal, but my bearings were shot and wouldnt give me a correct spec.

Ive also read that the spec for pre load is 14 - 19 inch pounds. Just want to double check before I start the install.

Thanks in advanced.

Like govtech said, a manual or alldata is a very good investment. That being said, 14 to 19 in lbs is about right for NEW bearings, if you install the same bearings again, shoot for more like 10 because the bearing and race have already worn into each other.
