car seat in ext cab silverado question

I am looking at a couple of different options for next truck, probably a 05-07 (classic) ext cab Silverado 1500 work truck. My question is can you fit a rear facing car seat in the back of one of these trucks? Also, does it have to be in the middle or could you fit it on the passenger side with the passenger seat up a bit? Because I have noticed in some of the older Silverado work trucks, the center seat/console in the front does not fold down, just wondering if that would cause a problem. I know that crew cab would be better but I have no interest in getting a crew cab. Thanks

You should be able to put it in one of the other spots other than the middle. It should have the latch mounts. My 2000 ext cab had it. An ext can will work the cc will provide more room. They grow up fast and multiple too so take that into account

it really all depends on how much leg room the passenger side needs. In my 07 ext cab the baby seat has to go in the middle because the wife and I are both to tall to move the seats forward very much.

When I was shopping for a new truck, my daughter was 3 months old and in a rear facing car seat.

(This was in January 2006). I actually had my wife and the baby with me at the dealership looking at trucks. The only way to fit a rear facing seat in the back was to put the front seat a good bit forward. I'm 6ft tall and I always have my seat all the way back, so that was a no go. The salesman kept trying to "fit" me into a ExCab, but there just wasn't enough room for me AND the baby seat. I checked some crew cabs and they had much more room. But they did not have any CC trucks in my price range, not even used ones. I was looking to spend no more than 20k cash out the door, and they could not get me into a crewcab for that price. Then I test drove the Suburban, and it was more than enough room, but it didn't have a bed. I compromised and bought the Suburban and I've been happy with it ever since. The ONLY time I regret getting an SUV instead of an actual truck is when I'm hauling something muddy, dirty, or smelly. Killing a deer for instance...... I have to lay tarps all in the back to make sure I don't get blood in the carpet. I do clean the deer and put the meat in a nice chest, but being way out in the woods, you can't even keep th outside of the ice chest clean. Other than that, I love my Suburban and have driven the piss out of it for over 8 years now.

you're supposed to have no more than 3" of the car seat that is clipped to the metal brackets hanging over the edge of the seat.  My 2009 Silverado extended cab will not fit for such rules.  My car seat attachment is 5" over the rear extended cab seat.  This is unsafe according to the manual (Britax B-Safe Ultra). 

 

Anyone have advice on other brand car seats that are safe and will fit properly?
