Range causing loss of vehicle communications

I have had my Range V8 in my truck for a few months now with no problems.

On Sunday while in 4-Low my "Service Four Wheel Drive" message came on. Got it to the dealer yesterday and they scanned for codes and came up with the following. These were history codes only and when they did all the tests, everything was passing. The stored codes were:

Lost Communication with TCM

Lost Communication with EBCM

Lost Communication with BCM

Could having the Range plugged in cause a system communication issue?

You need to have dealer check your battery cables to see if they are in range as far as resistance . I had all those codes last summer/fall and my neg cable was out of spec. Search on this site "2008 Silverado electrical issue" Aug. 19th 2012 third post. Also google pit4816 (no spaces) and it will take you to a caddy forum that talks about this pit#. It's the cables or the mega fuse, don't know where that is. I have had my range in the whole time after new cable and no problems. Hope this helps

I've had a Range V8 module installed since May 2013. Got it in an attempt to stop the AFM oil usage problem in my '09 Silverado LC9 5.3L. It cut down on 3/4 of the oil usage problem, but I no longer got the OnStar vehicle status e-mails. Called OnStar last summer and they said they could no longer communicate with the PCM on the vehicle. Since then I've had several episodes of warning chimes accompanied by Service Stabilitrak and Service Traction Control messages in the DIC. At the time of each warning episode, I have shut off the truck, removed the Range module, and pressed the OnStar button and asked for a remote diagnostic. Each time they said there is no record of any problem because no codes have been stored. Also, I have noticed the longer I leave the Range installed, my truck is not shifting as smoothly as it used to. If I remove the Range module and drive, it shifts better. I like the Range for helping with the oil usage problem, but wonder if it could be causing any problems (or keeping me from knowing about them) behind the scenes with the other systems.

Called Range yesterday and they are sending me the latest module. I have version 5.x.x and they are sending me one with software version 6.x.x. I just send them back my old one and it's an even swap.

I'm still going to check grounds, etc to see if anything is loose. I'm strongly considering going with a Diablo Intune I-1000 since I'll be able to turn off AFM with that along with adjust for larger tires when I need new ones. That way nothing will be plugged into the OBDII port. I'm out of warranty so having a tune isn't going to matter if I need to take it into the dealer.

Why mess with a diablo when you can get a blackbear tune for 300?
