Two quick questions Gm 2008 half ton crew

Ok first question. When in cruise mode if I power up the windows the cruise shuts down? Is this normal?

Second question

I have Putco brand window visors. The tinted plastic things that keep the rain off with windows rolled down. The driver door one fell out and wont stay put when shoved back in. There is some kind of strip that may have had some adhesive strip to stick it on. There is no tacky ness left on it and I wondered if any of you have a fix or recommendations to fix this ?

No, that's not normal. My guess is the power window causes a voltage drop, which in turn kills the cruise control. Check your charging system - battery and alternator - to see if they're functioning properly.

For the smoker vents, I'd use something like Goo Gone to remove the old adhesive and then apply a new film of adhesive. 3M makes some good stuff for that. If the local auto parts store can't help you, go to one of those industrial supply places like Grainger.

Hey there toolsinbox,

I understand that you are concerned about what happens when you use the cruise mode in your vehicle. Since you started this thread yesterday, has this happen to you again? As a customer service representative, I'm not able to provide much in the way of do-it-yourself information, so I'm glad to see forum members are beginning to step in with feedback. If you have any lingering concerns, feel free to contact us anytime.

First question, no not normal. Can you recreate the problem? If so what is your voltage gauge reading? Does it make a difference which window?

It happens using any power window button almost every time happened again this weekend a few times. I am not sure what to test? The only thing Ii know of that is wrong with truck electrical is the fog lights don't work and I have yet to troubleshoot

The cruise issue has been going on a long time. One guy had his cruise shut off all the time when his kids were in the car. Ended up being on child kept pulling up on the window button. I once made my 2007 GMC cruise come off by pulling up on all 4 window buttons at the same time. The voltage drop causes it. I can't find the thread, but I would get your battery tested. Also, using LED bulbs seems to be an issue with cruise.

Interesting. The only LED s I have are in the cab fixture between the visors. I have a brand new Battery and the voltage gauge stays same. Sounds to me like the cruise is to sensitive to voltage.

put if you had a capacitor inbetween the draw and the source... you'd have no problems :-) because the capacitor stores electricity for initial draws instead of smacking the battery or the entire system. I'm not sure where you'd implement this in the power distribution but it might be easier than chasing down an electrical ground or gremlin.
