Ignition upgrade fun

I am wanting to upgrade my ignition somewhat.  I know I should get new wires and spark plugs.  Should I also get an aftermarket distributor cap?  Anything else?  Also what are the best brands of wires, spark plugs, etc.   Thanks

:jester: go for a platinum type plug, splitfire or autolite

wires should have very low resistance with a copper or nickle alloy coil center. standard carbon wires are trash.

grab a distrubutor cap and rotor with brass fittings.

If its a stocker, stick with stock components.  I ran plat +4's for a bit, couple of the prongs burnt away.  I can justify a msd coil if you get the whole distributor.  Otherwise, performance parts on a stock motor does not a race motor one make....... stick to AC-Delco.

???   Your profile says you have a '01 truck which doesn't have a distributor, right?

The new engines don't have a distributor.  Check out Magnecore, they have a direct fit wire replacement for these new engines.  They're web page is full of useful info.

Thanks!  Might I add that my engine is completely stock aside from my K&N FIPK, the only other mod I plan is a Hypertech programmer.  Still just stick with the stock parts?
