cant shift out of park gmc sierra 2011

hey all occasionally especially when its cold out im cant shift my truck out of park , i turn it on and off a couple times and it seems to work

any ideas greatly appreciated

I would look into the switch that allows the vehicle to be taken out of park when the brake pedal is pressed.

Brake switch and or related fuses. When it happens, see if brake lights work. If not, it is something electrical.

Sometimes on my truck, if the steering wheel is turned a little when I turn it off, it seems to put a load on something. I have to turn the wheel either left or right a little bit after starting and then I can take it out of park.
