a run hot no ac comes on /?? help 2008 gmc

when driving dash say engine hot ac off an gauges go out , but is not running hot , un hook batt and clear it comes back good but when this happens no ac no fans .. is it fan controller / I see relay fuse for it or is there a sensor , thanks someone help
