2001 Silverado 5.3 2nd gear

I have a problem with my Automatic Transimission.  When i start from a dead stop I get a good shift to 2nd but then on occasion it will hang up when it should shift to 2nd gear.  It happens mostly in the morning when the Transmission is cold.  My truck is equipped with Traction Control and so has a servo that opens the throttle body instead of a cable from the accelerator pedal.

 

Has anyone every had this problem or heard of it before.

When it's cold, it is designed to run in the lower gears for longer periods of time to get the motor warmer faster.

I see that you are from FLA so I doubt it is getting cold enough to activate the program that holds the truck in gear a little longer.  For me that happens at about 20 degrees.

 

There may be an update to the computer that is available for your truck.  I'd ask the dealer about it.
