Help with 2014 Silverado 1500 (CC) Audio Build

Recommended Posts

So I recently swapped over from a 2009 335i with Logic 7 to a new 2014 Silverado 1500 crew cab. Its a very drastic change coming from a car with 11 speakers to 6 so time to upgrade.

I have been trying to find as much info as I possibly can but I am coming up short in a lot of areas. Everyone who starts an audio build seems to never finish it with our trucks.

Truck has a total of 6 speakers; 2 on the dash, 2 on the front doors, and 2 on the rear doors

Speaker Sizing:

Dash: 2.752" speaker diameter

Mounting Depth:?

Front Door: 6x9" Speaker diameter

Mounting Depth:?

Rear Door: 6.75" Speaker diameter

Mounting Depth: ?

My plan is to use to the following:

A) Front Door and Dash: Image Dynamics CTX65cs

B) Rear Door: Image Dynamics CTX65

C) Underseat Subs: (2) Image Dynamics ID10 V3 D2 and a Sundown SAZ-1200D

Link for subs: http://www.woofersetc.com/p-4992-id10-v3-d2-image-dynamics-10-dual-2-ohm-v3-subwoofer.aspx

D) Sub Enclosure: SubThump Dual 10 Downfire

Link for enclosure: http://subthump.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_72&products_id=456

These brackets will be needed for the front doors since there will be size adjustment

The only thing I really need is for someone to provide a mounting depth to make sure they fit. Instead of splicing the harness, I will cut the plug off the old speaker and solder the new speaker so that it can be plug and play and Chevy cannot get on me about a cut harness . As far as the dash goes, I will probably need a shop to get that done for me and still need to decide on amp to power the speakers. Other than that, input is appreciated

My 14 has 6.3/4 speakers in the rear doors, not 6x9s, fronts are 6x9's. Mine is a non bose system so maybe there is a difference. You will need to think about how you how you are going to get a signal to feed the amps. On my 13, i used a plug and play module. They do not have one yet for the 2014/15.

I did the kicker factory upgrade and it's pretty good but i am leanig toward a customer setup so let us know how your build goes...

I did it on mine, but I have the Bose system with the center mounted sub. Do you have the Bose system?

Nope, Non-Bose system here. Really hoping this will go as smooth as I am hoping.

Would anyone happen to know out mounting depth in the doors?

I am not sure the depth but most speakers will fit in place just fine. I installed jl audio c2 6 3/4 in my rear doors, used the mounting brackets i got from crutchfield that were in my 2013. The connectors are different on the 14 but the brackets were exactly the same. I was gonna put my c2 components in the front doors until i found out they were 6x9, have to get a different bracket. The rears are defiinitly a 6.5 to 6 3/4 speaker.

I have 6.5 inch Focal components and 6.75 Focal coaxials in the back doors. 12 inch Infinity sub (left over) under the back seat. Everything fit fine and sounds really good.
