Radio Reception Issues - PIC5854C Update

Took my truck into the dealer to have them install the PIC5854C, HD radio update. The dealer ran my VIN and said there was no open software updates or TSB's that needed to be installed, however I made them call GM regarding the PIC5854C update and it would appear this update has not been installed.

 

Its bit of a surprise that the dealer was not aware of this software update, or able to search for it but they were able to get GM to send them the update.

 

 

Took 2 days to get my rig back (One of my tires failed a balance/tolerance test), but my first impression is that this update should be on your must do list. HD radio is now crystal clear and I have yet to have signal drop out except when in a Tunnel or stopping under and overpass. The only negative I have seen thus far is that when it does loose HD lock, it now takes LONGER to recover the signal.
