I dont know if it would void your warranty, I wouldnt think so, unless the gooseneck caused something to break. I had mine gooseneck welded in my truck (94) and I didnt do anything to the computer, I would probably unhook your posotive and neg. to your battery.

Why would you weld the GN Hitch?

Welding creates stress points on the frame and there is a heat affected zone around the weld.

I've got the bolt-in B&W turn-over and have been well pleased with it.  It's a good alternate to welding.

REMEMBER--WHEN AND IF WELDING ON ANY AUTOMOBILE--ALWAYS REMOVE THE POSITIVE CABLE----THIS WILL HELP FROM ARCING OUT THE ELECTRONICS ON IT-----this is from someone who has been a welder for 25 yrs--it is my professional opinion-welding on the frame will weaken it to a certain extent  where as bolting is the reasonable choice on frames and so forth    :thumb:  :thumb:

Well I read an article the other day about Chevy HD frames. It pretty much said since the are Hydro Formed, or somethin like that, that you arent supposed to weld or drill any holes in them. So that would leave you with the option to put a B&W turnover ball, gooseneck, they are made to bolt up to 4 existing holes in the frame. My dad has one is his 02 2500HD and it is a really nice gooseneck, they are a little pricey though. Lookin at dads recently it is starting to get some surface rust already after only bein in about 18 monthes or so. Might be a good idea to give them a better coat of paint or something.

Man you guys worry to much about stuff.  Weld the hitch to the to the frame undercoat it and be done.  No biggy.  Note: Vertical up, none of that sissy pulling your weld down.  If you can't weld now ain't a time to learn.  Oh I didn't but you might want to pull your negative battery cable of the battery..

Rodger.. I painted my B&W turnover ball.  Threw the factory bolts that came with it in the trash.  Installed the Hitch with Caterpillar heavy equipment bolts.  Then welded the hitch to the frames just because being a welder "In welds I trust"
