Used truck tuner, warranty, reflash question

I bought my 2013 Sierra 6.2 used with 12k on the odo. I'm pretty sure the dealer sold the truck new, the owner drove it for a year, then traded it in at the same dealer for a 2014. So, the same dealer sold it new then sold it a year later used. I purchased the extended warranty.

 

In such a scenario, would it be common practice for the dealer to check/reflash/update the ECU prior to reselling the truck used with warranty? Is it an industry requirement to reflash before offering extended warranty to the second owner in case the previous owner used a tuner?

Good question. I highly doubt it. I traded my Camaro SS in with a tune and cam and the dealer sold it with a warranty within a week. I know they didnt reflash the stock tune into the ECU or else the car wouldn't run.

The dealership would not reflash the vehicle unless there was a serivce bulletin with an update available for that specific model. No need for them to flash it otherwise.

At most dealers, you'll be lucky it gets washed and vacuumed before you take it home.
