Butterfly valve in throttle body vibrating

Hi.... thanks in advance for any help.

 

Ok super cold snap in alberta... start up truck (2008 4.8 gmc sierra), runs ruff, back outta geerawge, turn around, and engine light comes on... with 'engine reduced power' warning. panic ensues, then i turn off, she starts up... same thing (minus the geerawge stuff). I had to go into town, so i drove it about 10 miles total, was really ruff... park her back in the garage, and heard a grinding noise when i shut it off.........

So i turned the key to 2nd position, heard like an accelerating grinding noise, almost like rocks in a can. Then like an unwinding noise that was grinding... key on then a winding up, grinding noise... coming from top of engine. took my intake hose off, and saw the butterfly on throttle body vibrating, causing the noise.

i saw that gmc had a recall on tps, Could this be related? If not, should i replace my throttle body assembly? i have no device to get error codes, anyone think it is worth it to get one at this point.

 

forgive me if i used any wrong terms, not a mechanic. Thanks again for any responses.

you have the throttle body code but you have to go in the dealer and have it scanned ,ya cant just replace it as a reprograming is required as well with this special policy (free),,,,,still nasty cold here in eastern AB

Is the throttle plate just loose? Can it be tightened up and then see what happens?

it felt tight when i touched it.

 

my light went off this morning, and no more noise?

that sucks if i cant just grab a new one. the extended warranty was for 120k/10 year i thought i saw.... take a guess at my od... yah 125k

Special policy means there is an extension of warranty for this problem , to a certain milage , call and find out but ya need a code to give them , then they'll look it up to see if it's applicable for you
