I have always wanted a 12 ga shot gun and finally got the chance. I picked up one of these a couple of months ago. It was on a great deal at the time ($219). It's the combo with both the 18.5" and 26" barrels included. I didn't get a chance to shoot it until last night. I used the 18.5" barrel just to break it in and get used to handling the weapon. It was great! I only had one box of 25 shells so I wasn't out there long, but there are now a few tin cans and pine cones that won't be bothering anyone anymore...lol.

The shotgun is not too heavy or too light. It felt pretty balanced. The recoil wasn't all that bad, but the shot I had wasn't exactly very powerful either. It only has the bead sights on the barrels but it shot straight and true. It was a great few minutes and even my 10 yr old daughter got to shoot a couple of rounds. She said it was fun but her shoulder wasn't feeling very good after the second round. Now I just need to clean and lube it up real good and pick up some more shells. I intend to hunt with this (with the 28" barrel of course) so I want to get well adjusted to this shotgun before going out into the woods.

I've read the bad reviews from a few years ago about some bad shotguns out there so I will keep a close watch on those areas of the weapon. Hopefully all problem areas have been taken care of this one as I plan to keep this a long time to come.

Congrats on the new gun! Love my Savage rifles.

My 887 has the 28" barrel, and it took some getting used to so I'd definitely get some practice with it. The long barrels pattern amazing though.

Yeah I noticed the 18.5" barrel is open, but the 28" has a choke installed. I'll definitely be putting a few through the long barrel.

With a 28" barrel and a turkey choke it'll do great for turkeys. I use modified for bird hunting, and it still has pretty good range.

Cool, I just want to get a deer personally. I grew up on dairy farms so we always had beef and dad would get his yearly deer so we had venison. I haven't had too much venison over the years so if I can tag a deer that would be great.

By chance anyone else get a hold of one these shotguns? I curious to hear other reviews regarding this shotgun. I've gone through a few boxes of shells now, both target load and a few shells of 00 buck shot. For whatever reason I seem to be a better shot with the shorter barrel vs the longer one. I took it out last night and a gallon size milk jug felt the wrath of the bird shot. It was great but you can really empty some shells quick with the shotgun. 15 shells is about 15 minutes...I like to see the carnage between the sets of 5.
