Driver wiper...why me?

I have had three Silverados (2000, 2002, 2003) and every one had (has) the same problem. When it's raining and while driving 65 or so, the driver side wiper barely works while the passenger side is perfectly wiped...what gives? Any solutions? Or am I just ...unlucky?

My 2002 has been crappy on the driver's side since new. I changed the wiper blades after a few months and it is still not too good, even at low speeds. This is my only beef with my truck. Maybe that wiper arm needs a stronger spring. I had a 93 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had the same problem. I even swapped the wiper arms and could never get that one to work good.

When I first took delivery of my '03 HD, I noticed the driver's side wasn't nearly as good as the passenger's. I then realized it was worse at highway speeds, like the wind was preventing it from making good contact.

I started examining it and there was an extra C-shaped piece on the PS. I searched around and found the DS one laying in the plastic tray below. It was a bear to put back on but now they both work great.

Your problem is probably different though if it has happened on 3 trucks...

Uh oh, I'm a little lost. Does PS mean passenger side? And the C piece, what does this attach to?

This might not have anything to do with your problem. My drivers side would hit the moulding and build up ice fast. It also made a lot of noise I didn't like. Replaced the 22" blade with a 21" and all is well now.

So does everyone agree that the fix for this is just switching to a smaller blade, 21"? Both sides or just the drivers side?

Yes, PS Passenger Side, DS Driver Side.

The C clip connects to a post on the bottom of each side of the wiper arm hinge (the hinge being the where it bends when you lift the blade to clean the window). On my wipers, it is this C clip that keeps the tension on the blade, keeping it snug against the window. Now that I realize it is there, I can see the clip from inside the truck while driving.
