Windshield Wiper electrical problem

My windshield wipers are acting up.  It's only rained once since I got the truck a few weeks ago and today they stopped working.  They would go off for about 10 minutes then come back on for a few minutes, then repeat itself.  I knew my dad's truck did the same thing and he replaced the windshield motor.  I called him and talked about it and he said he had gotten a letter in the mail about a service bulletin for the wiper motor.  Well I never got a letter from GM about this and I called the local dealer and was told that it was over Feb. 28th of this year.  So what should I do now?  I need to fix it now because I can see and it's supposed to rain for the next few days.  Any ideas?  Thanks, Chris

Chris............Pull off the front cover of the wiper motor.

Look at the circuit board with a magnifying glass. Others

have reported a broken solder connection.  My bud has

had problems with his 95 blazer.  We took off motor and

checked...Sure enough thats it ! Resolderd it and works fine!

There was a NHTSA recall that specifically cites this problem on the '95 S/T series.  Don't remember if the full size trucks were also in the recall.

Yes, C pickups were included.  My son just got his notice of recall yesterday March 18, 2003.  It did not give a date that they would stop repairing them.

I received a letter from GM that covered a wiper motor replacement for my '97 Hoe. Took it to the dealer and had them swap out the motor. No hassle at all. My letter extended the warranty on the wiper motor until Feb. 2004. I think the dealer is shooting you some crap about it ending Feb. 28th of this year. I would call the GM 800 number and see what they say.

I didn't see a loose connection, so I figured I'd hit all the connections with the iron.  Took a while, but after doing this, the windshield wipers came on and worked fine.  The next day it rained all the way home and not a problem from the wipers!  Thanks, for the advice!  Chris
