Escalade cluster replacement

I have a customer who's wife put a crowbar through his cluster. We got a used one and had the dealer try to install it but it showed 12k less miles. This obviously conflicts with carfax,inspections,and maintenance records. They couldn't input the new mileage. So, I found a place online that sells a cluster with the vin and mileage programmed in, all that needs to be done is a vin re-learn and gauge sweep with a tech 2. My issue is its a week turnaround. My other option is a repair service on ebay that isn't too far from me, he says he can input the correct mileage without removing the cluster. He can plug in his computer and reset it….NOT plug directly into the cluster. Does this sound possible? Thanks
