which one do you need?

I have a few in word format

I need one referring to the seat belt retractors.  I had read that there was one regarding a recall.  I think the number might have been 00-02-35-00045.  (I could be wrong on the number.)  Is there a site that I can do a search of TSB's?

I'm having a problem with the driver's side seat belt retractor making noise, squeaking and being extremely annoying.  The noise is more obvious when it's cold out.  Of course now it's warmer and the dealership is refusing to do anything about it.  I wanted to see what the TSB or recall referred to and if there was any ammunition I could use to get them to take care of the problem.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks guys, for all the help.  I didn't find the TSB I was looking for, but did find a list of TSB's on alldata.com as suggested and also some on the NHTSB web site.  If I do some more digging...

This is a great site!  I appreciate it and you guys for helping!

My 2000 had this same problem.  The seat belt was replaced with no questions asked.  I was told that there was a large number of others that were in my boat.  It had to do with the new 4 door extended cab and the seat belts being moved to the seat from the door pillar.  Good luck on finding the TSB#, I will look through my paperwork to see if it is listed on it.  I know for a fact that the problem existed though.

just found my paperwork from this problem.  I don't think it list a TSB number unless I am missing something, but here is what it says

A LEFT SEAT BELT RETRACTOR CONSTANTLY SQUEEKS WHILE DRIVING.  INSTALL S/O PART

CAUSE:  RETRACTOR SQUEEKS

           140 QUICK SERVICE 15A- MISCELLANEOUS

                157   W40

           1    12477919  BELT KIT

REPLACED LEFT SEAT BELT RETRACTOR

That is all my receipt says.  Don't know about that 157  w40 number.  Hope that helps

157 W40 is probably a dealer code where they charged $157 to spray your seat belt with WD-40!  Just kidding.  Anyway, I had my 2 front seat belts replaced via a recall, but my receipt doesn't list the recall #.  They replaced 2 Belt Kits part #'s 88935285 & 88937153.  I'm not sure what they did, but I know they moved all my tools around that I had  in the back and didn't bother putting things back the way I had it.

The dealer said there was no TSB on this particular problem.  So far they have said they were told by GM not to replace anything unless the seat belt doesn't function properly.  They said the noise would just come back after another year or two.

After I complained even more about how loud the squeak is at times (worse when cold and low humidity), they agreed to try and duplicate the conditions and see if they could do anything.  They've had it for two days now and they haven't even returned my call to tell me what is going on.  I'll post what ever my final results turn out to be.

Only one person at the dealership said he had seen this before, and the retractor would need to be replaced.  Another said they were only doing the replacements on Cadillacs with this problem.  Funny how someone buying a Chevy gets sub-standard service compared to someone buying a Caddy.

now that you mention it when it is cold outside (below 20) my seatbelt makes a loud squeaky annoying noise.  It didnt happen as much this yr as it did the yr before.  I totally forgot that i had this problem.  I just let it pass but i agree with you it is annoying

I've got seatbelt issues as well.  Had the recall done due to the retractors.  I've had a squeak in the driver's belt while leaning forward or back.  It went away for a while, but now is back.  Being that they've worked on it/looked at it several times, I may take it back and complain.

Well, the dealer said they couldn't duplicate the conditions to make the noise.  I think it is a combination of humidity, temperature, and wear that cause the problem.  Since it's warming up and there is more humidity, the problem will probably mostly go away until this winter.  I'm guessing the plastic in the rollers dries out over enough dry days, which happen more in the winter time, and then start squeaking.  I'll be out of warranty then, but the dealer said if it gets bad again this winter, they'll go to bat with GM for me since I came in to try and fix the problem before the warranty period expired.  Crossing my fingers...

Lets see how quick they respond if the part fails and you end up in the windsheild!  I always thought that they had to fix any problem with the seat belts?  A saftey issue.
