Hard to tell from that pic, looks line an in-line fuel filter.

Is there any writing on it?

It says "Tadger" after looking at the other side. First google search says "fuel saving device"?

I'd yank it. More snake oil "fuel economy" mods designed to separate you from your money.

It's a magic "laminar flow" device. ...suuuure... like it'll make a difference. Any so-called laminar flow will get wrecked by the time it hits the engine just by flowing through the fuel lines, not to mention what the injectors will do.

Appears to be a check valve. Only lets fuel flow one direction

WOW.

Someone spent $400 on that hunk of aluminum.

I was going to say that I can't believe it was $400. To make it worse, that's the smallest one they have. If you have a commercial diesel then it cost $900. Even if it did work at all it would take a lifetime and more than the lifetime of the engine to pay for itself, but it's no way it works. You could get a custom tune with difference settings for a fraction of the price. I guess it shows just how gullible some people can be.
