Looks like some type of EVAP b/s to me .... couldn't tell ya for sure.

That is bolted to the brake vacuum assist reservoir and it maybe an accumulator of some sort ,

 

It also has the vacuum hose that goes to the engine so electrically it maybe a sensor for some brake assist thing IDK it's 8 pm and I've had a few beers ok ??? Lol

It is a vacuum assist pump. It is an electronic pump that provides vacuum to the booster if engine vacuum isnt enough

Unplug it and you get a service brake booster message as soon as you touch the brake. When i changed alternators i lost power to it

Just out of curiosity, how does this device connect to the booster? Is there a port on the back of the device that connects directly to the booster? Does the line in the picture connect to intake manifold and the air that is removed from booster gets put into the intake? Or is that line connected to a valve cover?

I have never pulled it off to find out. Never gave it much thought either.
