Muffler Advice

I apologize if this has been answered but I have not been able to find the answer anywhere. I am looking at putting on a new muffler on my 2014 GMC Sierra with the 5.3L engine. I have never done any exhaust modifications before and I do not know what exactly to look for. I know there are different inlet and outlet pipe sizes and different offsets for the muffler. Do I need to get a muffler that matches the stock pipe sizes and the same offset setup as stock? Does the size of the muffler matter? I am looking at getting a Borla muffler, Can anyone recommend what model Borla muffler to get? Thanks for any help!

The longer the muffler the less drone and more sound absorbtion occurs. The shorter it is, the louder it gets. I haven't changed just the muffler on my past trucks, and went with the whole cat back system (for resale purposes as I can swap the factory system right back in if needed) so I won't be much help on the offset and inlet deal lol.

If you buy borla, you will likely buy the cat back system. Which will totally replace the stock exhaust from the 3rd catalytic converter and back. It will have hangers welded onto the pipes for the stock location.

Borla has three different "grades" of sound I believe. Touring, is a nice grumble, slightly louder than stock. Sport is a little mor aggressive. And ATAK which is downright loud and obnoxious.
