Instructions for Removing Mirror Covers

One of you guys posted a trick to getting the outside mirror covers off and on> Can anybody remind me? I did a search and came up blank. I know you push hard either towards the truck or away from the truck and then at the same time push up?

 

Any help is appreciated.

I tried taking them off my 14 silverado with no success, watched the video above and tried that way, I'm sure I'm just not pulling hard enough, but I don't want to break anything on a new truck lol. I'll just make the dealer put them on when I go for service.
