:jester: Well just want to say Hi to all here and say I hope to visit this site quite a bit now.  Last night I bought a 03 Crew Cab HD-LT and absoulutly fell in love with it on the ride home. I traded the old girl a 96 Suburban with 97000 miles on it, and never one problem:( . Anyway she gave me years of driving pleasure as well as my family. But hold the phone this new LT is something else!!! I also own a 97 Seville STS and this truck has every option it has and almost as much power   :thumb: I am very impresed with this new truck. So to start off with what recomendations do you have for a first time Duramax river all I have ever owned is gas. Any suggestions would be welcomed. :jester:

The longer you drive it, the better it gets.

Advice --- use good filters, and follow the recommendation for "low-soot" 15w40 oil.  Change the little spin-on filter on the Allison at 7500 miles.

Congrats and welcome! Sounds like a sweet truck! I agree with Blacksilver and don't be afraid to ask questions. I had lots of them and will have plenty more I'm sure.  :jester:

Welcome to GM-TC. You will love the diesel. A couple of things that will help with long life. Use good quality oil such as Shell Rotella T. Do not use standard motor oil, it is not up to the task. Change you fuel filter on schedule. Buy your fuel from a place that sells lot of diesel, such as a truck stop. A load of bad fuel will cause alot of headaches. If it is good enough for truckers then it is good enough for you. It takes longer to fill because diesel foams. No worries. Do not let your truck idle for prolonged periods of time, 8-10 minutes max. Truckers & EMS vehicles have a high idle function that is why they do it. I have an idle controller in my truck but that was an option from Ford. Start it up in the morning let it idle for a minute or so then drive it easy untill it warms ups. Other then that just enjoy it. Once you get used to a diesel you will never go back.  :thumb:

Thanks to everyone, yea the diesel is very impresive:thumb: I will work on getting some pics up to show off a little.  Threejaws that is a nice looking truck. I really like that blue but the only crew cab we could find in that color was a 2x4.  So we went with the white because it was the only LT crew cab they had.  I guess we could have looked more but the deal was good enough for me to say yes.

Just wondering... what happens to the engine if it sits at an idle for too long?
