Cabin Air Filter

Chevrolet Silverado.

I fully realize that this topic has been stated here before.

I purchased the two cabin filters.

I viewed utube videos. Seems easy enough.

Take the housing off in cabin.

Four screws. But the darn screws are recessed in some deep valley holes.

It is virtually impossible to get the 2nd from drivers side screw out.

I have some tools. Bunches of them. Probably not the correct ones. Not an easy job to get to that one screw.

I am not a contortionist.

I got the job completed. But I had to leave that one screw out. Got the other three screws in.

And it is not an easy task to line up the housing - then get a screw started. You almost need two people. And three hands.

The filter was filthy. Hadn't been changed since new I'd guess.

I think GM could have made this task a tad easier.

No issues on removing the cowling on mine... Most leave the furthest left screw in, I did because I have a console.

Ps moving the post to the 99-13 section

I think you will find that most manufacturers feel that if you can perform a maintenance task without having to remove engine/dash/fenders or any other major component, it is considered "easy".
