GM oem hood protector

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody!

This is first post for my new 2015 Silverado. I'm sure this has came up before.

I having a issue with a GM hood protector. The instructions say it's made by EGR. I installed but can't close the hood. I adjusted the hood lock and got to close but the side of the hood no longer matches up with the fenders. I also need to slam the hood to lock. Has anybody had this issue. May be I need to drill it out to fit but this is a oem part I thought it should fit perfect. I checked part number and it's the right part number at least on the box.

Thanks Steve

Did you make sure to put it under the weather stripping on the underside?

I had same issues and sold mine. It also allowed air under when on freeway and hood would move. Mine was under weatherstripping.

I called the manufacture and they said to remove the rubber weatherstripping. I removed but had to raise the latch about 1/4" up. It seemed to work for now and protector seems very tight against the top of grill and lights. Going to leave for now unless I notice water getting under hood or hood shaking. Overall it looks good goes with chrome grill.
