Enging Lighting - Color Match, Location, & Light Count

Enging Lighting:

With so many brands, sizes, bulb count, etc. and as picky as I am, has anyone found any LED lights, pods, strips, etc. that match the color of the lights that are under the side mirrors (I'm guessing these are puddle lights from what I've read)? I really don't want to add a bunch of lighting that differs from the factory lighting. I'm not looking for anything tacky or overdone, but something to provide visibility under the hood at night when needed.

 

Also, I don't want to add too much light, but not too little either. For those who have added lights in the engine bay, what seemed to be the sweet spot for lighting in terms of how many lights are added?

 

Location...I'm thinking the hood would be the best place to mount the lights to distribute the lights evenly and adequately. My guess, that if the light(s) are mounted in the engine bay, light would only emit around that light, and would lack in other parts of the engine bay that are blocked by engine components. Thus, having to use multiple lights in multiple locations.
