can someone tell me how to program a new remote for my 2001 chevy silverado p/u 1500 2wd. thanks ct

A new remote usually has to be programmed by a dealer.  If your original has some how gotten out of sync, then there are instructions in the owners manual on how to get it working again.

1. Start with the ignition OFF, hold down the power unlock button on the door panel. Turn ignition key ON, OFF, ON, OFF. Release power unlock button on the door panel. The locks will cycle once.

2. Hold down the key FOB lock and unlock buttons for 15 seconds . The locks will again cycle once.

3. Repeat step #2 for each additional key FOB.

4. Turn the ignition on to exit the key FOB programming mode. Programming is now complete.

Does that step work for the older style trucks?  Like my 99 Tahoe?

jersey i dont really know but it worked for my 01, try it see if it goes into the program mode if it does probly the same!
