97 Cheyenne Bad PCM???

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have a 1997 C2500 Cheyenne. I was coming back from a short trip the other day and noticed that my overdrive went out. As I got back into town, the check engine light came on and she started running a bit rough. After a scan, I pulled P0131, P0151, and P0719. How in the world can I have my overdrive go out, both O2 sensors go and the brake switch circuit at the same time??? Can it be that my PCM is bad?? Thanks in advance for any help!!

You could always go to a junkyard and pull the computer out of another truck. Usually they are cheap in the $50 range.

not a bad idea... I suppose I'll have to find the exact year make and model, the computers are programmed specifically to each truck I believe...

A friend at work has a 1998 Silverado K1500, his torque converter was not locking up in overdrive. It was his PCM, he replaced it and fixed his problem. Hope this helps.
