Aftermarket rear bumper

Recommended Posts

Creased my rear bumper on my 05 Silverado the other day. The local salvage yard wants $275 for a good one. Has anybody bought one from JC Whitney or off eBay? There are several listed for around $225. Wondering about the quality.

Welcome rattracer

Check out LMC Truck or Rockauto (where I ordered mine).

Many options re: cost / quality.

The one I ordered was at least OEM quality, possibly better.

$275 sounds high for a boneyard bumper.

I got rear ended a while back and to save money I purchased a complete assembly from Certifit. Its not pitting or rusting and holding up to the winters in the rust belt just fine. Fitment was perfect too. Install was about 15 minutes.
There is one about 20 minutes from my house, so this might not be the best option for you if one isn't.
Also keep in mind that unless its listed as the complete assembly it will just be the chrome, no plastic or brackets.

And I agree 275 is pretty high for a used bumper.

Yeah if it is just the rear bumper face bar, you need to go with RockAuto. Part # GM1102411 - this is rear chrome $109.79 and with shipping you are looking at about $140 or so.

And if you a internet savvy, you can find discount codes to save you even more money!

Thanks guys. I thought the salvage yard was high. I can get the "skin" at a local body shop for about $175. LMC Truck is up the road from me about 100 miles - I bought a lot of parts for my '68 C-10 from them. Didn't know they had late model stuff also. Rock Auto sounds like the best way to go.
