I feel bad for the next guy...

Newer guy here, with a long story but I'll try to keep it short.

I had a 14 SLE that had a lot of issues, between the vibrating, rusted frame, bad radios, rear squeaking, rear cab doors not closing right, and some other petty stuff.

Needless to say this truck was bought back by GMC through trade assist the last day of June, and I now have a 15 Sierra SLT that I am very happy with so far. Pretty sure it was done at the end of the quarter to get a Sierra sale, but that's my opinion because of how slow the process went, and then boom it's done.

Here is the part that bugs me, they listed my old Sierra SLE the next day and sold it within a week to some poor person, same dealership, I don't know how this person bought it seeing the car fax showing how much time it spend at the dealership....

I get they gave me a sweet deal with trade assist over a buyback or me going lemon law, but is it normal for them to sell the truck on the same lot without fixing anything?

The last tidbit that was semi shocking was my SLE with a 44K sticker was listed for 33,900, the only thing I did was add a rhino liner, but over an 10K hit on a truck with 7k miles was a shock....

Either way I made out, I just feel for the next guy......

Some people aren't too particular when it comes to their vehicles. It is entirely possible that the new owner will never look under it, or listen to the radio. Then again, a buyer who is informed and particular might be fighting GM and the dealer in the near future once the problems rear their ugly head.

I sort of know how you feel, but it's about the truck I had before my '14. It was a 98 Silverado Z71 with a 5.7 350. I had to fix so much stuff and not even talking about the normal stuff, but stuff like the rear axle going out twice, the trans needing rebuilt and the 2nd engine I had seizing up. The original engine got messed up while I was mudding. I was getting out of a deep mudhole and didn't notice that the oil pressure went from normal to 0 and basically blew it up. The 2nd engine seizing was honestly me hoping and thinking the oil pressure guage was bad because it would jump form onrmal to 0 back to normal. So it wasn't the gauge obviosuly, I just didn't care enough to really get it checked out. The engine seizing was the last straw so I bought my '14 and basically traded the 98 to the shop I deal with for the UWS toolbox and N-fab steps on my new truck. I will admit though, the 98 giving all that trouble was my fault from how I treated it and what I put through it so I can't really blame GM for that stuff. The brakes always sucked no matter what I did to them and could never get the A/C to blow ice cold air like it did when I first got it in '04. I remember I would drive by that shop a couple times a week just to see if the truck was still parked out there after they put a new engine in it and put it for sell. It took maybe 2-3 months to sell it but it finally sold and I said the same thing as you, that I feel sorry for the one that bought it.

All of that is why I'm really going to try to take care of this truck, mainly not to go real off-roading like mudding and sure as hell not going to do burnouts or anything like I did in my 98. I don't drive my '14 like grandpa, but at least I drive like I have some sense now lol.

I guess not, I was just shocked it was gone so quickly. I am rather particular, but the issues drove me nuts....

I really did love that truck and wanted it to get fixed and just be normal, it just wouldn't sadly. I just expected it to sit for 5 months or get moved to another state not sell in 5 days lol

My dealer did the same thing for me with trade in assistance. They sold it two days later for 38 grand. They gave me 35 (on paper).

On paper they gave me 31k, listed for 33,900, I guess they got that much since it sold so fast. Thanks for the heads up!

The 10k hit is not out of the ordinary at all. I got my 2014 that was stickered at $42,500 for $32.500 when it was new so I would not be surprised that your old truck was worth even less.

I guess between rebates and money off msrp it's not too big of an shock, needless to say I'll be keeping the 15 for 7 to 10 years I hope!
