Check engine light when towing

So I have had my truck for a few months or so (bought it with 33k) and whenever I tow my boat around in tow/haul mode I get a check engine light on the dash. The boat weighs about 6k and I only tow it an hour or so each way. The codes clear themselves a few trips after the haul every time.

 

Codes are p2096 and p0171

 

Any thoughts? I am bringing it in to dealer on Tuesday morning but the codes have already shut off.

Did you try searching for the codes? My immediate thought was they are O2 sensor codes, and they are. They both indicate lean condition on bank 1 (cylinder #1 side of the motor).

 

You bought a 2015 truck with 33k on the clock? I sure hope you got a crazy deal on it with that many miles AND got an extension of the bumper to bumper coverage. Ever consider why someone would drive a truck that much in less than a year and then dump it?
