Anyone try a GM parts shorty antenna?

I have seen posts for all different brands of shorty antennas and mixed reviews on reception. Anyone ever try a GM parts short antenna from a different model? I found a few styles from the crossovers roof stubby but figured they are tuned at the height they are above the roof and would not work on a truck. Then I saw a Pontiac G6 convertible and they use a stubby which mounts on the fender well below roof line.
