Colored Dome Lights?

I am trying to have my dome light inside my truck to be blue. I have bought blue bulbs and they stay blue for a short time, and then the heat of the light burns up the color of the bulb, turning it into wierd colors. (My first one ended in a very dark yellow after a while). I was wondering if maybe someone made dome covers that were colored or maybe if there was some way that someone had tried to make a nice tint to the dome light.

any suggestions are appreciated.

not sure if it would work for you.. but i took some high heat red paint that i found at a craft store and painted the bulb..

it is still red and working good.. at first there was a little diffrent smell in the truck but it stop after a few times of leaving the light on.. i have not tried blue paint.. maybe you could put a light coat of paint in the lense cover..

Well, its weird you should ask.

The guy whose site the pics are on is a member here but I'm not sure what his name on here is. He is a member at www.fullsizechevy.com (which is also for GMCs) and goes by kylesz71 (shoot him a PM) . These may be pics of a friends truck, but either way he can probably find out how it was done.
