fog lights

Here's my idea, I am gonna throw some KC's up on the bumper, with the help of a pro runner light bar from procomp.  Think if I disconnect the wiring from the factory fog lights, and wire up the KC's  it'll work.  I have to do the math on the amperage it'll draw, but if the fuse won't blow, do you guys see any problems it might pose?  Anyway I've been reading this board for a while, thought I would throw my truck into the ring.  Right now its a '02 2500 HD with 8.1, Ally tranny. I ordered all my upgrades the past couple days, and their gettin installed next week.  they'll include, fabtech 6 inch lift, procomp 16x10 wheels, goodyear MTR 35x12.50 tires, procomp MX-6 shocks, superchip programmer....and i think that's it.  I'll post some before and after pics when i have them.

That's a lot of upgrades in one shot. What did you do, hit the lottery or something?

So long as the lights have the same wattage the wiring, relays and fuses should be fine. If you're adding higher intensity lights then you'll most likely blow the fuse or cook the relay.

No need for a relay!  There are already redundant relays throughout the factory system anyway as they're wired through the PCM.

Simply cut the factory lights wiring and splice the new ones on.

Our wiring, while not the greatest, isn't bad either!  Short of running a H.I.D. light, it should support them.  What would fry the stock wiring is if you ran MORE than one light on each line.

You can fry the wires by using lights that contain bulbs with a higher wattage, even if it's only a single light. You'd probably pop the fuse (or cook the relay) long before that happened though.

HID's can be added without any problems! They come with a ballast, similar to what florescent lights do, but the bulbs themselves are "only" 35 watts. They also generate less heat, so even plastic lenses and housing are no problem. If I had the $$ I'd install them in a heartbeat.
