AUX Switch Panel

Recommended Posts

Does anybody have a good idea for a place to install some aux switches in these trucks. I had an 03 Silverado and didn't mind so much to drill into the dash but not on a 40k truck. I have an onboard air system/ trainhorn that is in the toolbox and i need a way to run the compressor switch into the cab. Im also going to install a light bar sometime soon. I live in Alaska and a light bar installed on a vehicle can be the difference between hitting a moose and not hitting a moose in the winter time.

Thanks!

i have the factory installed trailer controller also. i saw one post where someone slid the switch into the slot where the telescoping handle for the steering wheel is. i might do the same but eventually i want a more permanent solution.

You might be able to horizontally mount a switch below the trailer brake.

I put mine on the left side of the steering wheel where the lights/4x4 switches are inplace of the tow brake

What switches did you use for this? I've been trying to figure out if one or two rocker switches will fit into that little space above the transfer case beside the steering wheel.

I put mine on the overhead console, in the center section that pops out with all of the switches for HomeLink, Sunroof and back window. I was able to fit three rocker switches and there is plenty of room for wiring. If I had used smaller switches I probably could have fit 4 switches. I may change that later.

I'll try to post a pic later.

Edit: I was only okay doing this because I figure that piece of plastic would be cheap to replace if I wanted to go back to stock or sell it without the lights. I totally agree with you on drilling holes in a $40-60K vehicle, but I've done it to almost every truck or car I've owned. I just can't leave'em alone.

Above the 4x4 knob you can fit two rocker switches vertically. "MAYBE" three horizontally.

Mine has a little pocket above the 4x4 / light dials... Does anyone know if they make a solid panel? I don't have / need a brake controller.. would like to just replace the whole panel so I can install some switches.

Thanks

depends on the switch you want to run but here is what I did for my light bar...It is just the standard round led toggle switch. Fits perfect once 12v plug removed. I never use them as I have one in the console if I ever did need one. Looks stock when cover is closed which I like.

Depending on your trucks set up you can buy the piece that sits under the A/C controls that has all the options on it (inserted pic) and just wire your accessories to what the truck doesn't have, adjustable pedals, lane departure, front/rear sensors. Or what I've done is put my switches on the lip next to the steering wheel. 03a31caad1415044c9c0a33475a2b626.jpgda8a7cb0a22d2b72fe7b3180600093d3.jpga4fa17314ad712d1e76540e8d736c0cb.jpg
