Installation of Amp PowerStep on 2015 GMC Sierra?

Hey guys - relatively positive I am going to be buying these soon. I have downloaded and read the instructions and I have also watched a couple of videos online of them being installed on other trucks. That said, is there a video of them being installed an a 2014/15 Sierra or Silverado? Thanks!

I installed mine myself on my 2015 Denali as well as my previous 2010 and there was zero difference in the process. It's extremely straight forward with the plug and play harness. If you deviate from that and go with a hard wired install, you're on your own. You have to take each door apart and tap into the door harness. One tip I will give, if your truck is stock height, be ready to use a jack to make your life easier to install the steps themselves. My trucks were and are lifted, so it wasn't an issue, but a stock height truck would be more difficult without a jack. Also, the steps come COMPLETELY disassembled and you will have to put everything together. Not a big deal or difficult, just extra time.

There were no issues with installation for my stock height truck. The instructions that come with it are pretty straightforward. Pay attention to the drawings. They helped me figure out where the brackets were supposed to go...

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. I am pretty comfortable doing things like this and I just finished installing the two bedsteps. I do intend on getting the plug and play for the OBDII. Do you guys have any pictures of your install at all - specifically, how you ran your loom through the engine bay? Or where you zipped up the harness along the rockers? Lastly, did you have enough harness - was it long enough? I have heard some complaints from some (not sure they are for this specific kit) that the harness was not necessarily long enough in some spots and there was either tension on the power wires or the harness could not be routed as nicely as they wanted.

I ziptied mine across the firewall to the other wire loom that is already going across and down right by the brake booster and down along the frame, and for the passenger side I ran it down right by the battery and down along the frame. On the drivers side you have plenty of places to ziptie the harness to because of the factory wiring that is already there. The other side i used some existing holes in the frame to run zipties thru to secure the wires. The passenger side was barely long enough and the drivers side I had plenty of wire.

Well I pulled the trigger today on a set of these. They should be here next week and I'll install them can't wait. I hate he factory running boards. Absolutely useless.

Haven't gotten them yet - they arrive tomorrow - but boy do I love Amazon. I ordered them two days ago, the price dropped $25 this weekend so I contacted them and they refunded the difference. Can't wait for the install!

Ok. So I generally love Amp products but I will tell you the stainless turn for these steps - sucks to install! It looks great when you are finished, but the stainless pieces are razor sharp, thin, and scrape the crap out of the edges hen you are installing it. If these were not aluminum I would be really worried about future corrosion. Granted, the scraping is under the stainless when installed, but it was a pain in the butt to get on there. Way too tight of clearance.

One more question for you guys that have installed yours, I haven't finished installing mine yet. I just put the stainless on the steps and then put the motors on the arms. The motors went on the arms no problem with them just about fully extended as they are supposed to be. That said, there is a slight difference from left to right with respect to current amount of extension of the arm. One is extended about 1/4-1/2 in more than the other. I assume when power is applied finally they will cycle to where they are supposed to be fully extended - correct? The instructions do say to move the arm until the motor fits so I assume this is normal. I just want to make sure that they will go all the way down tot the stops as they are supposed to when power is applied. Thanks!

Stainless trim - not stainless turn... Damn auto correct.

Hey guys - finally got around to installing these powersteps this weekend. All I cna say is that these things are awesome! I'll post pics and a short video in the morning, but a really quick review of the installation/quality of the steps.

Pros: These steps are perfectly positioned. They are down far enough so you don't kick the truck trying to get in, or have to step up high to reach the step. The quality of the steps are fantastic. Solid and well built. The connectors from the harness are also very nice and very profesional. Installation took me about 8 hours going pretty slowly - particularly routing the wires and wire tying them up where I wanted them.

Cons/installation issues: Though the connections are long enough to connect to the battery, there is no real way to connect the positive cable and retain the red cover. So I drilled a small hol int he inside of the cover and fished the red wire in (I'll post a pic). The result is that I can close the red terminal cover without interference. They also shorted one of the wires to one of the LEDs. I know that harness was in the right position because the other three fit just fine. I extended the wires with extensions.

The only other thing I did extra was that I soldered all of the LED wires and heat shrinked them. Was easy and guarantees the connection.

These things are fantastic!
