Hi everyone,

I have a 2011 Chevy Silverado LT 1500 4X4. I'm needing help identifying the name of a part in my rear end. c34d80eb-4a58-4146-905f-a3a2cde6c3d0_zps

Do you by any chance have aftermarket parts in there, or did a previous owner install aftermarket parts?

It looks like it might be part of an aftermarket limited slip differential in there. It sure isn't a factory part that I'm familiar with.....

Either that, or it's a custom made part that someone macguyver'd up for some reason.

Actually, at the time I posted this last night I didnt have a pic of the actual part but I found this pic online and thought it looked like it so I posted it instead. Today I have a pic of the actual part. It's shaped like the capital letter I (eye).

My boyfriend bought the truck last year from a Car dealership so not sure what would have been done to it before he bought it.

At any rate, your differential is toast. Many damaged and broken parts in there.

I'd suggest putting in a Detroit truetrac if you want a posi on the back, or just buy a new open differential if you want an open rear end.
