Well I have owned this vehicle for a few months now and every time I go on a road trip I get more and more frustrated with the garbage that GM is actually selling for money. Navigation is horrible. On the last to road trips I have done now the Nav has actually routed me to longer than necessary routes by an hour the first time and was going to take me 2 extra hours today. Called onstar to have then download routing for me and it gave the same results so I used my iPhone to give directions. Also it was shorter to travel through the US but I needed to stay in Canada and I could not get the system to redirect with this option. Within the system I tried to avoid toll routes, US Highways individually multiple times and it would just not give me this option. Called Onstar and got nowhere. Have ben talking with an ambassador and well that has been a waste of my time as well as they will not return my calls. Great support GM, what a disgrace.

Last weekend on a long road trip my cell phone kept trying to call itself while plugged in to the dash USB to charge, multiple times to the point I had to unplug my phone and then it stopped.

This weekends road trip the bluetooth kept connecting/disconnecting. Called onstar and they had me pull over to side of highway and then told me they couldn't help and to just shut the bluetooth off on my phone. Awesome.

Voice recognition? How about they change the buttons name to..... Guaranteed not to understand a word you speak recognition. I have had 4 people in the vehicle and every one of us has tried to get the recognition to understand what we are asking. Every time I use this stress button I have to call Onstar to take care of it for me. Well once Onstar expires will GM remove this waste of space button from my steering wheel?

I have spoke with tech support and have requested that they remove the Nav system from my vehicle and credit the option back at this point. It seems to me that it is as much a GM problem trying to reinvent mapping as it is a crap underpowered head unit. I am taking it to the dealer this week to have the Navigation removed. What are my options other than running an external GPS mapping device such as a TomTom?

Roughly 4 months of ownership and I can't wait to switch manufacturers.

Not even going to start on the noise in 4WD.

Something else I just thought of.... sunglasses holder that I can't get any pair into lol. And thankfully I didn't it gets so hot in there I am sure they would melt. But in the process of trying have you noticed how fragile the headliner assembly is in that area, just another indication of how little effort went into building the cheapest quality truck on the road.

Saw another 2500 owner in Windsor, Ont. today and I was going to ask him how disappointed he was with his purchase but it appeared as if he just picked it up within the past couple days so I didn't want to burst his bubble, it will happen on its own with some driving time behind the wheel.

Ive only used nav a couple times and ive had no issues that you speak of and the blue tooth has worked great with my droid phone. Sorry your having issues but maybe you need to have the dealership review your issues and see what can be done.

And I am the only one with these issues?

Don't know. I've had mine about 3 months now and love it. Only issue I've had is the garage door opener doesn't work well with my 15 year old unit. I've seen a few others talk about some kind of whine from the transmission/transfer case, but mine does not have that (yet).

I haven't found the NAV to be any better or worse than other OEM automobile units. The ones in my Jeep Cherokees will route you around your elbow to get to your thumb too....and they are Garmin software and Navteq maps. I will say the screen resolution and map display in the new Chevy are a hell of a lot better than what I had in my 2011 GMC Denali HD. That thing was barely better than a fuzzy bread crumb trail.

I have not had any Bluetooth problems with my Droid Razr Maxx HD or my wife's iPhone 5...but we only use the phone function and do not stream music or anything like that.

It took me roughly 3 months to realize what issues it had. When I commute locally it seems to work normal. I only really seem to have the issues when travelling down the highway on longer routes. The more I search google for issues there are a lot of people having the same results as I am. Going to a new dealership on Wednesday can't hardly wait to see what comes from the visit. Hope to get the alignment back to normal after this visit as the last dealership wasn't capable to perform this task after I installed levelling keys. Wife and I have decided we are likely to get the navigation mod and run the iPhones on the screen or find a nice spot for the tom-tom. Glad I haven't done any mods like this at this point so I know currently it is a factory issue. Got in a buddies '12 silverado today and his GM factory nav has better route options than my mylink unit. Kind of weird.

Yes I found those settings in the menu screen, also to avoid toll routes.

The shortest route required toll and travelling through US as well as this would have been the fastest

I did not want to travel that route because we were moving the daughter to university and didn't want issues at the border or delays. we are talking roughy half hour- hour difference in time saving by travelling US side.

I set Nav to avoid toll and numerous highways in the US hoping to increase the travel time enough to make the canadian travel faster. No matter what I changed it would not work.

On the way home we travelled the same way but it was going to make me travel 2 extra hours in canada when it finally rerouted me to canadian roads. I know the way but the computer in my truck doesn't and we also use our iPhones as backup which can direct us correctly.

If I did not know the route or I was not paying attention it would have cost me 2 hours of drive time, mileage, fuel, etc. this trip only takes 1 1/2-2 hours if done correctly. And it is not the first time now. this is 3 times on 3 trips in both directions to and from all different locations trying fastest, shortest, toll route options from the side of the road.

If you knew the route why did you need the nav?

Because I paid what for it? to say I have it installed lol. Because I am trying to prove how much of a POS it is thats why.

So I have been in contact with the rep for the nav system now. I gave them exact situations of what I would like to do. They had me work my nav system with them on the phone and at the end of the conversation they were not able to make the unit route correctly. Even avoiding routes, tolls, roads, etc. They are now looking into what can be done to have the system removed from my vehicle :) I am not very happy as I really wanted in vehicle factory navigation but I cannot justify paying what I did for something that just does not work for my needs. If I have to depend on TomTom or my iPhone to get me around the map whats the point of the GM nav system.

Why go to all the trouble to have it removed? You don't have to use it if you don't like it. Unless they're giving you money back for it, all you're doing is lowering your resale value.

I don't have to use it but I have to pay for it. I was trying to get my money back for the system as it is mapping/routing wrong. They now will not remove the system. I am getting a lesson hopefully tomorrow to see how the system functions. So basically I have no options now that will make it right for the money I spent. The system does not suit my needs and they will not back a product they put in my truck.

How can someone not care if the system doesn't function properly when such a big price tag is paid for something that doesn't work. If you go to best buy and buy a TV when you get home the remote won't change channels do you just say oh well and get up and just change the channel at the TV? Not likely

I am going to video what I go through on this system and post to you tube what the system actually does and how it functions. Let people know what they are buying before they sign on the line because what I was sold at the dealer, on the web doing research is very misleading to the consumer.

We are going to compare what I have issues with, go to another similar vehicle and see if it does the same thing. This will determine of it is normal across the board. Sure hope I learn something I am doing wrong but after being on the side of the road yesterday for an hour with tech support and exact problem duplicated and non reroutable I have my doubts.

Went to the dealer for a lesson on how to use my system yesterday. Honestly probably know how to use the system equivalent to or better than the tech there. The system is installed in a vehicle that I do drive everyday so I am aware of how it works. I am not a specialist but very fluent with it.

My findings yesterday...another address that will not route correctly to a destination I travel to numerous times throughout the winter months and verified by the GM tech.

So I now have 5 different travel routes that I travel, that do not route correctly and neither infotainment tech or GM dealer tech is able to resolve.

GM's response to me today is that the unit is functioning as it should and if a mapping update comes out I will be notified through email for a service to the unit. I am able to show them how it doesn't work but they are not able to show me how to make.

I notified them that I will now be making a short you tube video of a few destinations that I input to their system to show how the system routes incorrectly. I am not looking to bash, I am looking to inform future customers that research before they purchase. They will not remove, reimburse, or repair so for every future consumer that I make aware of what they are purchasing in real world use.... I will be happy.

So happy to be returning to pick up my daughter this weekend from university as this is one of the error routes in both directions.

Am I trying to hide behind a keyboard...I think not. Name location and picture are in my avatar. I stand behind what I do with a warranty to my customers I would have expected the same from a multi billion dollar company.

Here is one picture we took with wrong routing. Wanted me to drive from Windsor to London and back to Sarnia. There is a highway through Chatham to make this a more direct route. Hwy 40 when the screen is zoomed in it will show on the map. This is one of the routes that give error. Gm response "We are sorry"

    • Hello hello looking forward to expanding my knowledge of the 2026 2500 HD that I just bought.   Truck has 3500 miles on it four-wheel-drive crew cab and I’m about to put a 6 1/2 inch BDS lift on it 18 x 10 -25 offset with 37’s   Already have the wheels and tires just waiting on the lift install in about three weeks   Question what surprises am I not gonna be happy with?  I’m not new to lifted trucks so I know that acceleration towing gas mileage all that is affected..   Question is those of you that have this truck this powertrain with a 10 speed Allison and have done the mods that I’m doing,,, how bad is it? Is that Allison constantly gonna be hunting for the right gear to go into? And what about towing, acceleration, fuel consumption as mentioned?    Lastly how come I can’t find any ring pinion gear set up for these axles and when could I expect to see them?   I apologize if there’s any typos I’m doing speech to text on my iPhone.
    • I've got a 2013 2500 6.0L Flexfuel. Drove the truck earlier today with no issues. Went to run an errand tonight and noticed key fob wouldn't work. Figured battery was dead, so replaced fob batter. Still wasn't working. Grabbed my other set of keys with the other fob and that one wasn't working either. So I manually unlock truck and insert key. Interior lights come on, dashboard lights up, turn key and truck starts. Turn truck off, like a moron, and try starting again. This time no crank, no click, no nothing. Lights still come on and dash lights up, but now I'm getting a service 4wheel drive, service tire monitor, etc. Check voltage on battery and Im showing 12.2v. Throw my battery charger on it and give it 15 mins and try starting again. But still no crank no start. Decide maybe its a bad battery, run to autozone grab a new one and put it in. Same issue. Disconnect battery and let it sit for 15 mins. Try again and still nothing. I had managed to roll the windows down earlier as its a humid night, but now I can't get them to roll up. Power locks are also not working now. Then randomly I try the key again, and it fires right up. Immediately I roll up the windows as we have nothing but rain forecast this week. I shut it back off wait 30 seconds and start up again. Worked a 2nd time. So turn it off, start putting things back together. Try one more time, and back to no crank no start. And now the car alarm starts going off. Had to disconnect battery and leave it that way for the night as I don't think my neighbors would appreciate my alarm going off again tonight. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
    • No one will care for you like you care for you. Do what you can for as long as you can. IMHO of course.
    • How about them NICKS!!!
    • Hi there.  Long time lurker, first post.    i have read the previous posts regarding the water ingress problem with this emblem.  I bought my 1500 SLT the  summer of 2025 new and after reading the MANY problems with these emblems failing I decided to install one anyways.  As per a YouTube video, I sealed ( or tried to) this sign with silicone sealant around the outer perimeter joint and the holes that were already somewhat sealed on the rear plate of the emblem.  And installed the connector assembly using dielectric grease on the connectors. The installation looked great and worked well for about 4 months……then FAILURE.  Grrrrrr…… I live in the great white north and wash my truck weekly in an automatic car wash  to keep the salt off.  Let me tell you that removing the old, failed emblem is a whole different animal than removing the OEM individual letters without removing the grill assembly. Mainly because the illuminated logo is built differently than the original letters which  you can remove the red surface lettering with a knife or some kind of blade which gives access to the tabs which hold the logo onto the grill. So I had to essentially destroyed the old emblem to remove it. Doing so killed my chance of doing somekind of autopsy on the failed , old logo.  But there was plenty of water inside when I ripped it apart.  Prior to installing the new assembly I tried it with the old harness and it works fine.   Does anyone have any insight as to where the water is getting into this emblem? I intend to seal the new logo with slow curing epoxy this time around using a syringe.  I think this newer emblem may be an updated unit which I hope GM got the vendor to fix. It has an October 2025 date on it.    If this one  fails,  I am just going to revert back to the non-illuminated letters….AFTER PULLING THE GRILL.    Any thoughts on sealing with epoxy would be appreciated. Thx!   Doug
