Going to try sub install

Hey guys,

I found a 10" Rockford sub with box and amp that I'm going to install myself under the rear seat.

My question--- is there any tips or tricks for removing interior trim pieces such as rocker panels etc, as I need to run the wiring to the back. I'm obviously concerned about breaking clips/trim etc. I did order a trim removal kit to use.

Thanks, Mark.

I did it without the trim removal tools. Just have to be careful. I've got a temporary install in my crew cab but the wiring kit is there to stay. I've got a 10" kicker shallow in a sealed box in the middle of the truck, behind the armrest in front of the rear seats. Amp is under. Eventually I will wear out the factory speakers and stage 2 will begin. Five-channel amp to one sealed 12" under the rear seat and the door speakers will be components.

There is a lot of useful and informative videos on YouTube and I think you should start there. Patience is the #1 rule when doing something such as this if you aren't familiar to the process. Once you get going your confidence will build but even then don't rush anything. You got this!

I have tried searching youtube for videos and can't seem to find any on removing trim pieces. Starting to get too cold to work with plastic pieces anyways I guess. Still waiting for sub to arrive. Man it takes a long time to ship to Canada. Can't remember where we are maybe? Lol

Ok took some quick pics so don't expect much quality. Start at the bottom and slowly/gently/firmly work your way up. I did it with the truck on with my bare hands. 2c1cef34be545aba3e94da0b25e3df11.jpgbcbea6658efd306a3f29bc586a85cb54.jpg1b191c5a261e2209f057c84e932a1351.jpg4a177109993e836de8ffe58d112a1527.jpg3ecdb9a88475010b9c3e77b9655f20ec.jpg6ab5addbe0b60669daeae2114b0ac393.jpg24cd572915f4c58b87f71b446fefa561.jpg2e4c2437e064251c587e8fa09bd8210e.jpgf141eff2f0863a5e75b17c939b22326e.jpg

I think what I'm most concerned with is removing the rocker and kick panels without breaking them as I took a quick peek the other day and I'm pretty sure there is already a broken clip under the passenger rocker cover.

No prob. I saw the how to on YouTube and just decided to try my luck. I had a wiring kit I had bought a year ago for a Malibu but decided I don't want to keep the car. My truck is a keeper.

Yeah...patience is your friend

an annoying one at that.
