2003 silverado automatically going into 4x4

I have a 03 silverado with push buttons for 4x4. I noticed recently that at times my red light for neutral is on but im still driving and also noticed that it is now shifting into 4hi automatically when i push 2high or 4low light just flashes and will not shift out. Only way to do it is turn vehicle off for a few mins then when i start back up its in 2hi

Your best bet would be to have it scanned for codes. There are several problems that you may be experiencing.
