Get a Blackbear tune and don't look back.

Whats that cost, Scott?

Also, will a tune void my warranty?

technically, only if the tune causes something engine or transmission related to fail....and can be proven to have been caused by such a tune.

An In person tune from Blackbear is $300. You send in an $80 deposit and balance at the tune meet. That includes ECM and TCM tunes. Worth every penny! There are plenty of threads on tunes and BB performance on here. I do not think I have seen one negative comment on them and that says a lot coming from this community on here. I am a "set it and forget it" type of guy so I went the in person route but if you wanted you can do tunes via e mail with an Auto cal.

So if you do the BB tune in person, how do you restore the factory tune if you want before taking it in to dealer? Pretty much have to buy a handheld to restore?

Just trying to weigh the options of doing an in person tune, or buy the handheld and do it via email, etc.

You don't. It's about $600 to get the Autocal so you can restore ( tune included).

The M5 trick is good until you decide.

So if you buy an AutoCal they can email you the tune and you upload it yourself?

Yep, that's the primary point of using the AutoCal.

When you buy it, they'll give you access to instructions for configuring and downloading your stock tune. You'll log some drive time and send it to them. Tell them what options (turn off AFM, new tire size, what mods, etc) he'll send you a tune back for both ECM & TCM. Upload and install. You'll also have the stock tune files to return to stock if you need to take it in for service.
