Front door 6x9 up grades just not cutting it. Audio people help.

Highs just don't seem much louder then stock. Clearer yes louder no. Figured amped 6x9's would be way louder.

Here's the set up. Went a little budget but not bad.

Kicker 41KSC694.

I'm running a Rockford 2 channel line output converter stock deck (8" non bose) running 1 set of RCA's to the amp

Amp is a Punch P600X4 running 2 channels to 2 6x9

2 Channels bridged to 1 Polk Audio MM124012" sub.

Also, sealed all holes in the doors, put foam between the door grill and speaker, and ran all new 16guage wire to speakers as well.

Bass is great but really over powers my highs unless I crank them volume all the way. Then the highs are just ok for most songs. Really no louder then the stock speakers. They are more clear and better sounding though. I really don't want to run component I just want the highs to be louder. Is something wrong with my set up and what should I change.

I have the gain set to the max with out showing a clip light. This amp is great for that feature. Showed me that our 8" deck never throws a clipped signal.

** on a side note I first had a Prime version of this amp with JBL 3 way 6x9's and it was no louder either. I turned the gain up too much on that amp and fried them fast. So I switched this amp and these 6x9's.

You have to swap out the dash speakers. I did same thing in front doors, was just OK, same thing you are experiencing, nothing up high. Bought an inexpensive set of components, swapped out the dash speaker, huge difference. Next on my list is to swap in a "real" amp.

When you swapped out the factory dash speakers... 2 questions. Were they amped or just running off the radio?... Bose or non bose. Also was it easy to get in and swap them out?

Oops..just saw the link you posted below...

Extremely easy. Pop off A-pillar covers (passenger side has two 10mm bolts), drive side has a retainer clip that slides off, you'll see it when you get it loose. Dash cover also pops off via spring clips. Had mine apart couple times, it's 5 minutes total including getting the tools out. Most time consuming part was cutting the metal spacer rings I made up.

Tweeters in mine are amped, I'm running the Alpine in-line compact amp hidden behind the glove box. I am possibly going to change this up and run tweeters and rear doors off of the power pack and power up the front doors and a sub with a 4 channel Rockford we have here.

Could I just swap out the dash speaker for better ones. The stock radio is set up to power both the door and dash speakers from the same channel cutting wattage to both in half. Soo if I power the door from the amp like I am now and only use the head unit channel to power the dash speakers it should have more wattage then stock. In fact it should have more wattage now since I am powering my door speakers from my amp now. I don't know. My jeep is running 4x6's to an aftermarket deck and its as loud. I would think 6x9's with 100 watts should scream. I run 100 watts each to 4 polk UM 6.5's in boat and its loud and clear as hell. Sounds awesome and that's in an open environment. Were talking about a little truck.
