Power Steering Belt 2015-2016 Colorado/Canyon

Anyone here have had this belt broken? This is the enclosed belt that attaches to the steering motor to the steering gear. A very strange design, but this doesn't surprise me from GM.

How is this a strange design? I thought it was very innovative to disconnect the pump from the engine and give it it's own power source. I am somewhat mechanically inclined, have done complete frame off restorations on my 55 Chev Hard Top, 55 Cameo Pick Up and 57 Corvette so understand simple design, the new steering is a more complex issue however.

Not strange. Somewhat common with electronic power steering racks.
