Keyless entry

I have a '94 Silverado and this was a year before Chevy had keyless entry, but I do have power door locks. Is there anyway using GM parts to buy a remote and a reciever so I could have keyless? My main concern with the aftermarket kits are first they just look cheap and I would rather buy something that looked original. Second all the kits I have seen come with the lock acuators and I don't need them since I have power locks already and I dont want to spend my money on what I already own.

Yes, this is possible.

You can get 100% factory keyless entry if you buy a keyless entry receiver module and BCM out of a newer truck. Only problem is unless you get the wiring pigtails out of the scrapped truck, ordering them from GM will probably cost more than picking up an aftermarket keyless entry system.

Another option is to hunt on Ebay for the keywords "gm alarm". You will then find some "GM Accessories" branded alarms that GM sells. They are made by DEI and come with 4-button remotes that resemble GM factory remotes. The main difference is these GM lookalike remotes have LOCK and UNLOCK reversed. They also have an LED in the middle and a 4th button labeled "GM" that you can use for whatever you wish.

Oh, thanks. I just baught a 1999 and it has remote keyless entry. was this installed by the previous owner?

Are you sure chevy did not have remote entry until 94? wtf? ???

Your truck most likely has factory keyless entry. I am guessing they started putting keyless in trucks in '95 because my '94 Silverado doesnt have it but my friends '95 does.
