Building custom headlights

Alright all, I have a question. Been debating a while on some headlights for my 15 Silverado. Debated doing a projector retro fit, basic LEDs etc. but I was wanting to do something different. Has anyone thought about buying some cheapo eBay specials, splitting them, do a custom paint, projector retrofit, Amber eliminate etc. I know some have bought them and said they are crap to use but if you throw some good parts at it and seal it well do you think there would be issues? I just want some opinions and ideas. Please and thanks!

Lots of posts on this, one thread inside of the massive HID thread. The cheapo specials are made of cheap metal inside, posters reported trouble getting the new projectors to mount properly and I remember someone saying it wasn't worth the trouble. Read that huge thread. Lots of good info. Also, search for eagle eyes. I've heard they are a little better than the no name OEM knockoffs.
