Well here goes. When I first bought my Chevy back in 07 I would be driving down the road and the headlights would flicker and eventually just shut off while driving down the road. High beams were never or problem or my fog lights. So after i tore it apart and tried to find the problem myself I finally said uncle and took it to the dealer. After some digging I found the ticket from the dealership. Here are the comments on the repair they performed "Diagnosed wiring problem to fuse box repair two wires and replaced two terminals also replaced 68 way fuse box connector" It worked for a while after that and then started to act up at times, I've just sorta dealt with it and tried my best not to drive it at night. Well now they wont come on at all and I'm determined to fix this myself this time rather than paying another 400 to have it fixed. I'm not the best at automotive electrical troubleshooting but I do have basic knowledge, a test light, a meter, and plenty of beer. I would appreciate any help to get me started in the right direction based on the comments from the previous repair. Thank you!

If it were me, I would rewire the whole headlight circuit from scratch, eliminating the BCM from the equation. You'd have to rig up either an old-school foot activated high beam switch, or some other switch of your choosing. You'll have a reliable system after that. Can buy a blue, round LED & mount in the panel somewhere as a high-beam indicator. Just fuse the power supply to the switch, and your golden.

This was actually my first thought. I'm going to dig a little deeper and then if I cant find the problem I'm just going to rewire it. Still if anyone knows which 68 way fuse box connector this could be please let me know. Theres one under the dash drivers side at the mid bus and then I think theres one under the hood at the main fuse block. I cant find where they repaired two wires

Just a thought. If I can remember right the park brake switch is tied into the system through the BCM. I would do a quick check and make sure it is not making intermittent contact. And causing the lights to go off. If I am wrong in my thinking I am sure someone will jump in and correct me. But it is an easy and quick check.

Oh yeah forgot about that - that's how we keep the batteries from croaking whenever my brother's Duramax sits too long. Have to stomp the E-brake to keep the headlights off. The lights combined with the glow plugs really suck the juice up.

If the pedal is flopping due to busted components, that would certainly make the DRL's blink - not sure if it affects the headlights when the switch is manually turned on though ...

I would think the "68 way fuse box connector" would be either the bulkhead connector or the harness connector to the fuse panel. I would take a good look at the underside of the fuse panel to see if there are any loose or corroded connections there. But, take a look at the parking brake switch first. You could also try bypassing the parking brake switch as well to test it. Not sure if the switch is closed with parking brake off or not, you will need to determine that first.
