I have an '02 Chevy K1500LS. Unfortunately I have the P245 Wrangler ST's with the stock crappy chrome skin/steel wheels.  My tires are already practically gone @ 26K miles and it looks like I'm in the market for new meats.  I wanted to get some 285's but I'll need something a little cheaper. I found some 265's in a BFG "Land Terrain". Has anyone seen or used this tire before? I have never heard of "Land Terrain" and there is no info on the BFG website. The tread looks a little more off-road than the Wrangler but will probably be OK for the occasional off-road romp. I wish I could get some stock aluminum wheels or some custom rims but if I have to choose between the kids teeth and tires/wheels etc......Thanks guys. :smash:

You might be able to find a good set of tires and rims on Ebay from a late model Silverado for close to the same price that you would pay for just tires.

There are alot of Silverado "take-offs" out there forsale...

Jackpot!  Got new meats for my ride.  Yokohama Geolander II.

Nice off-road tread. Awesome sure-footed ride.  These tires are Bad A$$.  Got'm for 111.00 each, 45K mile warranty and all the other road hazard stuff etc... I opted for the 265's because I was worried about rubs etc. I like the look of mine w/ the 265's @ stock height. I had to wait for wheels too so that helped with the decision on size.  The 285's would have looked too big IMHO. Now if I can make some excuse to get out of the office for the day to do some wheelin'...

In addition to the above, for a little less, you can get Dunlop Rover ATs or Dunlop Mud Rovers at the TireRack or Sam's Club for about $90-$95.

Keep me posted how those tires wear.  I'm going to rename my truck tire ##### if I can't find a set to last over 20K. :chevy:

FYI guys....  The BFG Land Terrain tire I mentioned above is a custom build for Wal-Mart. They are on sale at Walmart tirecenters thru July in a 265/75/16 for <=97.00 each.  Also a good buy.  I would have gotten those except my ex's brother works @ discount.  Thanks for all the advice....  I looked hard at the Dunlop tire as well but I think the ply count or the load range was different and that's why I went with the Yoko's.

I'm in the same boat as you sesmith.  My 02 Silverado has the same tires and wheels.  The truck's got just over 20,000 on it now and the crappy stock tires are about shot.  I was also looking at those BFG Land Terrain.  They look to be not quite as agressive as the all terrains BFG offers.  I was thinking the tread pattern may last longer.  Hmmm......$97 until July hu?  If you get em, let us know how you like em'.   :chevy:

good info to know....... However.. I'm not sure if I would be comfortable buying tires from Wal-Mart...

Guess I'll just stick to the local tire shop.

Not sure if you're interested, but I've got my stockers (P265R75/16) for sale w/ the stock alloy wheels.  They have 16K miles on them on the dot.
