Loss of power (pleateau) while accelerating

Yup,

I have a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 4x4 with tow package and it too is doing just what you guys are saying.

Very annoying!

I feel it is the "tune" that is the culprit.

I'm having a really hard time trying to get used to the "accelerator" pedal.

It seems to have nothing to do with real time.

Gone are the days of the engine responding exactly to your right foot.

I hope someone can figure out how to fix this!

There have been plenty of days that have gone by that I miss my 08 Silverado. That thing was a work horse and never had a single complaint about it. I do love this truck now and it pulls its own weight, but I wish they wouldn't have switched over to DI engines.

I don't think it has anything to do with DI. I think it's the way the transmission is handling torque.

Well who knows. All I know is I never had any complaints with the drive ability, throttle response, loss of power, etc with my last truck. Would I ever trade back to that, no. But it sure was a fun truck to drive.

I believe I know exactly what you are talking about. Mine has done this a few times especially coming out of a turn. You slow down, turn and then accelerate and there is a delay type situation. To me it seems like it is searching for the correct gears. I have actually taken mine to the dealership for this very reason and was given the "I can't duplicate the issue" excuse.

I have had this exact problem with a 2009 V6, 2015 SLE 5.3 V8, and the 2015 SLT 5.3 V8. I believe this is just in the design of the truck to get better fuel mileage. This is a total guess. I may not buy another GMC because of this and see if another Make can do better. I absolutely hate the hesitation when I try to accelerate. It is not always there but it is most of the time. I would love for my truck to take off from a dead stop or from a slow run and not hesitate first. It's very annoying. Dealership cannot or should I say will not fix. I have been told by some that a Programmer may be able to help but I am not familiar with such things.

My work truck is a F150 with the 5.0 and it does the same thing as well, just not as bad as my chevy does.

Good to know.

This is one area where I really miss my 2002. It had the little 4.8 with 4.10 gears but had an actual throttle cable. The throttle did what you expected it to do and the 4 speed tranny shifted smooth and consistently. I loved driving that truck. My 2014 has what feels like twice the power but the way it delivers it can get annoying sometimes. I really like my 2014 but if I had to do it all over again I may drove the old rust bucket for a few more years and tried my luck with a 2017 with hopes that GM would have worked out any kinks by then. My 2002 was starting to rot away but the engine and tranny were solid and the truck was smooth as silk on the interstate.

I wonder how the new RAM ECO Diesel drives. Anyone heard? I may have to go for a test drive.

I really like the ZF 8 speed in my dads ram. He has a Hemi. but that transmission is just phenomenal.

I just read on the ECO Diesel that it does not have the off the line take off of other trucks but is great for about everything else. Does that HEMI have good off the line acceleration?

well the eco is meant for economy and towing. so that's to be expected.

The Hemi is very quick on its feet. Even though "the numbers" say that the ford and gm trucks are faster and lighter. My dad's ram feels a lot more powerful than my 5.3. His truck will throw you back in the seat when you stomp on the gas. And without hesitation. The transmission just knows where to go. Something that is really bothersome in the 6 speed units GM still uses.

That seems more like want I am seeking. I miss this from the older trucks(" His truck will throw you back in the seat when you stomp on the gas.").

My 2015 SLT has the 8 Speed but I really cannot notice much difference from the 2009 V6 6 Speed that I had. It's better once I am up to speed but pitiful off the line.
